Debt Management Advice

Diagnosing slow payers disease can be painless. All you need remember when contacting a debtor is that there are only four reasons debtors don’t pay accounts.

All you have to do is find out which of the four reasons apply.

  • Memory loss (I forgot to pay)
  • Cash flow difficulties (I have no money to pay)
  • Dispute (I am unhappy with you)
  • Unethical
The first three reasons are easy enough to deal with and should lead to you receiving payment. Use your common sense, or contact us for a free consultation.

However there are several signs which point to a debtor being unethical.

  • when they no longer communicate with you
  • when they break promises
  • when you receive returned mail
  •

When you decide a debtor is unethical it is time to commence debt collection proceedings by sending a Final Warning Letter. While this is not necessary legally, it is our experience that if there is ever an arguement about your account then the Disputes Tribunal likes to see that debtors have been given a formal warning that a debt is going to be sent for collection. Download a FREE copy of our Final Warning Letter.

If this is unsuccessful then contact us to start the cure.
